Public Disclosure
The King County Sheriff's Office is committed to responding to your request for public records in a timely manner. This is also a requirement under the Washington State Public Disclosure Act (RCW 42.17).
So that we can process your request, we need a clear description of the specific record you are requesting. Within five business days (excluding holidays) of receiving your request we will either send you the record, or an estimation of the time needed to comply with the request. If we are unable to comply with your request for some reason, we will provide you with the cause for the withholding of the record. To find out more about what is available to you, and the charges for the materials you are requesting, please contact the Records Unit at (206) 296-4190. If you would like to find out about copies of 911 tapes, photographs, videos, or documents that are not incident reports, please contact our Legal Unit at (206) 296-5292. The public records officer for the King County Sheriff's Office is Patty Shelledy. She can be reached by contacting the Legal Unit at (206) 296-5292. For security and verification purposes, please be aware that if you make your request by phone you will need to pick up the materials in person. If you can make your request in writing, please mail it to: King County Sheriff's Office ATTN: Records Unit 516 3rd Avenue, Room W-150 Seattle, WA 98104
