
Sheriff Sue Rahr was elected King County Sheriff in November 2005. Sheriff Rahr has been in law enforcement for over 20 years, and earned a B.A. in criminal justice. During her long career with the King County Sheriff's Office, Sheriff Rahr has worked to create a safer and more secure community for King County residents.
"Effective policing comes from a solid foundation of police work," says Rahr. "We build on that through partnerships with citizens, other law enforcement or criminal justice agencies, and public officials."
Sheriff Rahr participated in developing the KCSO's
vision, mission, goals, and core values. These statements guide our actions to provide community-based policing for citizens in unincorporated areas and the cities that contract with us for service.
